He serves as Global Ambassador and member of the International Board of Directors. I am shocked at the lack of cleanliness and now I'm wondering how ditty the kitchen is behind doors. In August 2012, Yao started filming a documentary about the.

Yao was not angry with the promotion because he was not familiar with American stereotypes of Chinese. Archived from on July 11, 2011. I look forward to returning and dining in next time. I heard this place bad and was for the American taste.

Yao's Chinese Restaurant

One of the best Chinese restaurants on the West Side. Wonton soup is great, as are most of their entrees and app's. Service and atmosphere are a cut above most. The only negative is a somewhat limited selection of dishes suited to American taste. It's a mix between American and real Chinese dishes, so the menu is a little offbeat for those used to the typical Hong Kong Gardens menu. I went in well knowing that it was going to be Americanized Chinese food. Don't get me wrong, I actually love places like Panda Express. But this place left so much to be desired and none was delivered. The appearance of the restaurant had somewhat of a charm to it. Yes, I get the whole Yao Ming story. I tried to get a variety of things. Peking dumplings, Vietnamese spring rolls, teriyaki chicken, Mongolian beef. The chicken and beef were mainly plated as a combination yao mings restaurant protein and sauce. I'm guessing that just like any American Chinese place, the dishes defer only by the sauce used. Kung Pao chicken vs General Tso's chicken vs sesame chicken vs orange chicken vs purple. I'm just making names up now, you get the point. I personally thought the protein dishes were too salty. Random acts of unkindness: The waiter definitely got my order wrong I ordered the Peking dumplings steamed, it was brought to me pan fried. When I mentioned it to him, he took the food away, but had the audacity to say I'm sure yao mings restaurant ordered it pan fried. That definitely dampened the already meh mood I had of the place. It came fast enough considering I live less than a mile away. I asked what was in the cashew chicken and shrimp. The lady told me only chicken shrimp and cashews. I wanted to add mushroom and cilantro. My food comes, I not only have mushroom and cilantro, but baby corn carrots pea pods zucchini. I needed to share with someone who is allergic to carrots, so that was a bust. The limes were fine, but the lemons were old. I also didn't know I was going to be charged, nor was I told the total. Lastly, I ordered a soft drink which was flat and watered down and yao mings restaurant of ice, not worth it at all. Digressing, the food was good, delivery was fast. Here's the thing I've been coming to Yao for years now. I have no idea why it took me so long to write a review. You could have two totally different experiences, depending on the time you visit. If you go at peak dinner time, then you will have a really great experience but if you go at off peak times or when it's slow you will not get the same quality yao mings restaurant food. Dinner here is always better than lunch. They do have a lunch menu and it does have a lower price point but it is not the same quality as the dinner selections. They do have really good service. I have never gone and received bad service. However, what really makes me mad about this place is they have the nerve to pre-cook chicken. Most of the dishes frequently sold are chicken. They are prepared the same lightly breaded and fried but the sauces are different. For example: orange chicken, sesame, Gen Tso's and you get the idea. So what the cooks do is fry up batches of the chicken and it sits there so when the off peak hours come, they can fulfill the orders and still do their normal kitchen prep work. If you happen to dine when they are really busy at dinner you will notice that the yao mings restaurant is extremely fresh and does not have the rubbery hard Jerky like texture that it has when they are slow. I would like to be able to say that about lunch but like I said the lunch is weird, the portions are smaller, the sauces are different, the meat is lower quality and it's not the same caliber recipes that you have at dinner time. It's more like fast food Chinese and of course again the chicken is cooked ahead of time so it doesn't taste fresh it tastes hard and it's really really not the same caliber. Another thing I don't yao mings restaurant is the wonton soup. I've never had bad wonton soup at a high-class Chinese restaurant but this soup lacks flavor completely. I'm also not a fan of the fried wonton, the cheese inside is very stale. I do like the homemade chicken egg rolls, though they are greasy, they have good flavor. I have had the beef and asparagus and like I mentioned the orange peel chicken sauce is out of this world when it's on point but when they're doing their cook ahead business it's a disaster. I will say one of my most favorite things I get here are the yao mings restaurant teas. They have a wonderful selection of hot tea Blends and floral teapots. It is possible to have a good dining experience here but you have to go at the right time and on the right day. I keep hoping they will do something about the shortcuts their cook take but until they get higher-quality Cooks, shortcuts will continue and I will continue to complain because I expect better from Yao's restaurant. I heard this place bad and was for the American taste. Wasn't great but it wasn't as bad as it could be. Had a few plate of different food check the pictures just to make sure. Although it could be better like way better from the asian perspective but it definitely was cater to the American groups. It's like you really wouldn't and probably won't order a T-bone steak or any steaks in a chinese restaurant, well maybe other than the pepper steaks. Is just two different style and taste bud. If I have to compare it to other traditional Chinese restaurant it probably have one to two star but since we are going for the American Chinese restaurant it still only have three bc the food yao mings restaurant either too salty or bland, a lot of the taste was just the sauce and left the food flavorless inside. Parking: Restaurant is located in a large parking lot and highly doubt you will have issues finding parking even on a busy day. No issues in getting a table at all. First the Walnut Shrimp is amazing. It is cooked with baby corn, peas, carrots, cucumbers, mushrooms and the sauce is flavorful. I can say I quickly finished that dish. It also comes with a small bowl of rice that you can refill. It wasn't spicy, which is good for me, but it wasn't as flavorful as expected. Waitress refilled our waters many times, checked up on us every now and then, and reminded us that we can get refills on rice every time. Besides the attention she gave, she was nice and pleasant to talk to. Price: Now the prices are slightly higher than what I would expect at another Chinese restaurant especially on Bellaire for the same quality of food. Overall: The food and service here was favorable. I like the portions and had no complaints from the food. Service was higher than expected with our waitress attentive to us and our needs. Only issue are the prices yao mings restaurant if you are not in the Bellaire area and looking for Chinese food, then Yao can satisfy your hunger. But for me, the prices deter me from coming back often. I would visit the restaurant again if I was only in the area and have a craving for Chinese food. I will start my review with how great their customer service is. It was such a pleasant dinner experience because not only they were friendly but also because they tend to our needs in a very efficient way. It was more than enough for 2 but we also ordered peking duck because we were craving and it was not a mistake. They cut the whole duck in front of us making it easier for us. The flavor was just right, not salty at all. Heard about this restaurant and last night decided to give it a try for take out. Had the lettuce wrap with chicken which was very good. Have to minus a star here because there was no hoisin sauce on the side, which is usually a staple, but the chicken and pine nuts and everything else that went into it was very good. I ordered the sauteed string beans on the side since I don't eat rice and they were cooked perfectly. For the main dish I asked whomever answered the phone to suggest the most requested beef dish and they recommended the Black Pepper Beef which was an excellent choice. Fairly thick slices of beef with onions in a pepper. I'm hoping the beef was stir fried and not fried, but regardless it was delicious. All in all I was very satisfied with the meal and the quality of the food. I look forward to returning and dining in next time. I always come to Yao's with my boyfriend when we want a really quick fix for Asian good. This place is definitely the Americanized Asian cuisine. So don't go expecting Chinatown eats at Yao. I always order the Sesame Chicken with brown rice and egg drop soup. I always end up taking food home, which isn't bad. I find Yao to be a bit overpriced, but the food is decent. Sometimes on the week days I'll go sit and have a nice cup of jasmine bud tea by myself. The atmosphere is really nice and I like that it's not so overly crowded. You can actually talk without raising your voice like in some restaurants it's so loud. But the soup yao mings restaurant devine I really like the chicken bone broth soup. I took my mother here for the first time and she loved this restaurant especially the jasmine bud tea she was amazed. Definitely worth a try if your in town on business or for a weekend get away. Decide to give this place a try for date night before the movies. It was literally 4 people in the whole restaurant. We was able to walk in and get seated right away. I was surprised because it was 8pm on a Friday night. Idk if that was a good or bad thing lol. Based on a delivery order from GrubHub: Food was pretty bland, I got the general tso chicken. It had jalapenos on it, which while I ordered spicy, you still don't usually see jalapenos in that dish. The batter was pretty thick and the chicken was stringy and a bit on the lower quality side. Perhaps it's better in person at the restaurant, but I'm afraid my search for stellar Chinese food in westchase continues. We had a wonderful experience here tonight. We were going to door dash this restaurant, but our electricity went out about 6, so we decided to visit in person. We told our waitress we were in no hurry because of the electricity situation. We were not rushed, enjoyed some refreshing cocktails, along with crab wontons and shrimp rolls. Our entrees were flavorful and generous. Highly recommend orange beef, Szechuan pork and chicken and vegetable noodles. Been here many times and we will be back. I truly had not heard of it until some coworkers dragged me here and I am sure glad I went along. It's very nice, dark, and cozy inside. We were seated promptly and the service was impeccable. Everyone who serviced our table was very attentive and kind. The lunch specials are really great for the price. All the specials come with a soup, egg roll, and an entree. You will definitely walk out full but your wallet won't be in pain. They also have a really generous offer for those still suffering from the effect of Harvey. It's really nice to see an establishment giving back to the community. I really enjoyed my meal here and I can't wait to come back. My coworker took me to her favorite lunch spot today. The food look really good and then I bit down on a piece of plexiglass. I showed it to the waiter and he went to tell the manager. He came back and asked me if I wanted something else.

I've called them 3 times now to check on the status and it just rings and rings and rings. He was selected to start for the in the eight times, and was named to the five times. Everyone who serviced our table was very attentive and kind. And especially because they deliver. Archived from on January 12, 2009. The Sweet and Sour Pork was very strong on the vinegar and the soy sauce in the mango chicken was too much, making it very salty. This place is pricey for what you are getting. Nothing better on a chilly afternoon. A good combination of flavors. Definitely worth a try if your in town on business or for a weekend get away. We ordered the garlic chicken, the firecracker pork and the Peking beef.
